Yes, it is spam, undoubtedly and certainly so. I received two calls from this caller today (Tues., Feb. 13), with the same result both times: I say "Hello", and am greeted by silence. A second 'hello' made no difference. It has all the characteristics of a call made by an automated calling device, which would usually begin its spiel upon hearing a human voice, but appears to be malfunctioning—calling but never 'saying' anything. Caller ID displayed the phone number and "unassigned", whatever that may mean, since it's obviously an assigned, in-service line, or appears to be, anyway. More probably the number is false, as much a construct as that 'unassigned' legend. A genuine phone number belonging to someone, but co-opted for the sake of a bogus caller ID entry. The upshot is that it's a spam call or at least appears so. I won't be answering it again. Don't be bothered with it. One last point. The map below indicating the geographic origin of the call is wrong in showing it to be near Columbus, OH, where the area code is 614. The caller ID info describes the call as coming from the 216 area code, which includes Cleveland and some of its near-eastern suburbs. The actual call probably originated from somewhere else, anyway—another state or perhaps even another country; caller ID info is no longer trustworthy in many cases.
