- I also received the same message from the 210-787-2178 number. They had some BS automated recording, talking about how the IRS was looking into me and my family for tax fraud and how they have a warrant out for my arrest. Sorry, but when they don't even mention your name or a specific person to call back, it's a clear case of a scam call. The IRS will always send you notification through the mail first before ever calling you or showing up to your door.One of the bigger red flags were some of the things said in the message: "The tax fraud", "The United States Government"-- this is scripted and done very sloppily, you can hear the mistakes and obvious lack of knowledge about the government. They mention the government and tax fraud to scare you, but these people are nothing more than simple minded scammers. To anyone else reading this, it's alright, unless the IRS has contacted you with a letter through the mail first, they have no reason to call you.
