  • Post by Guest,
I have recieved 2 inbound calls and made 1 outbound to this number. The first call I missed, went to voicemail. The message was a female caller who identified herself as Jenna with "something processing". She was clearly on speaker phone and the rest of message was so garbled with the background noise of people laughing and yelling I couldn't make clear the point of the call. So I ignored it thinking probably a telemarketer or something. The next day call shows up again this time I notice but don't answer as I assumed it was a sales call of some sort. Checked messages later that day and again, Jenna with "US Federal Processing". This time I could hear her. She states that she is calling to investigate pending check fraud charges filed against me in Clark County,Ohio. She left her number (210-319-4916 x 300) and gave me a case number 7426177 as a reference. My immediate thought was -oh my god someone has somehow got ahold if my banking information or worse yet stolen my identity. I quickly called the number in hopes of getting more details so I could determine my course of action. When the operator/ receptionist picked up she said "Hello, US Check Processing". I noticed that was a different name than the name I got from the message left earlier. I stated who I was and asked to be connected with Jenna. She transfers me and my call is quickly answered "Hello this is Detective....(blank)" I can't remember the last name she gave but I asked is this Jenna and she said yes so I then stated my name and gave her the reference number. (BTW...Jenna doesn't sound much older than maybe 20-25. Having the title Detective would be a bit if a stretch) Jenna responds "We have been trying to track you down for a while.....". A while? I thought-well I have lived at the same address for the last 10 years same job for 7, I'm not that hard find. Google will get you to me in about 3 seconds. Anyway, she starts on her spiel about the pending check fraud charges and then provides me with fascinating estimates on how long one can spend in prison for check fraud. I say "if this is truely the case then I am afraid that my identity or checking account has been compromised" I asked her to tell me when this took place and where or who the check(s) were written to. She gave me no answer. Then after a long pause she responded "don't act like you don't know what I am talking about...you know you are a pathetic crook". Pathetic crook? I instantly got so upset I thought I was going to throw up. I told her she was way out of line but she continued further into shaming and name calling. At that point I knew that this could not be legitimate. What government employee/agent would carry on like this? NONE. I did not want to just hang up on her because I assumed that I would most likely suffer a future barrage of harrassing phone calls. So I told her that I was not comfortable and didn't want to go any further into the conversation without doing some investigation of my own. To that Jenna said "I don't think thats going to help you" then proceeded to tell me that they were going to do me a favor by making a one time only offer. If I could settle the debt immediately by electronic check they would accept a REDUCED sum of $750 and drop all charges. -Reduced from what??? So I said "well I guess your going to have to take me to court " and then requested that a statement or copy of whatever these charges were to be mailed to me. She said no chance and followed up with the threat that if I did not comply by clearing the debt by the end of the call that she would have no alternative but to contact the authorities in my area and have me arrested immediately. I said okay, make sure to tell them to go to...(gave my home address). Then she made one more rude comment and hungup on me. After the call I contacted my bank to check on my credit and double check account history...theres no funny business anywhere. Thank God. On advice from my banks legal team I have already filed a complaint with the FTC, Atty Gen. of Ohio. and Atty Gen. of Texas(origination of the call is San Antonio). Whatever group is behind this, hopefully will be stopped soon. I may not have been bullied into believing their scam but others may not be so lucky. Thanks for your time.
