- I got a recorded message from 213-375-0059 claiming "this is the IRS," and they were filing a lawsuit against me and to call the number back immediately. Upon calling, I spoke with a woman with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be "Jennifer Lambert, Federal ID #0266641" who asked me to confirm my name, home address AND LAST 4 DIGITS OF MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER (FOOLISHLY, I GAVE HER THIS -- DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE!!), and told me I owed $5,487 to the IRS for the period between 2010-2015 and that there would be a warrant out for my arrest (etc, etc, etc,). She eventually told me her supervisor might be the only one who could help me avoid being taken to jail. This "supervisor" then called me from 206-497-0237, speaking with a heavy Indian, and claiming to be "Federal Officer Gary Wilson, Federal Badge ID: WC3720, GS Level 15," who was "going to stay on the phone with me while I withdrew this $5,487 in cash from the bank" (etc. etc. etc.). Needless to say, these are scammers.
