- I received a call from this number but fortunately my husband received a call with the same voicemail message(they used a different number)about a month ago so already knowing this is a scam i decided to screw with them so I returned the call and questioned the person who had a very strong Middle Eastern accent I asked what exactly the charges were for and he repeatedly asked my name which I replied if they had issued warrants for my arrest why didnt they already have my name he then gave me a previous name from marriage I haven't used in 10 years but I played along and asked how could I solve this issue without being arrested and he told me I could pay the judgements against me over the phone (no surprise there) that came to $2300.00 well long story short I gave him info on an old bank account I had closed years ago and when he told me there was an issue with it so I asked for an address and I would send a check which he replied they did not accept checks and he suggested I wire the money to him personally in Canada I then asked why I would wire money to Canada when it was the US IRS I supposedly owed it to after that he got really nervous and I decided he wasn't gonna give me the info I needed to catch him so I then told him I was an agent with the IRS fraud division and that I have been working with the FBI to locate him and that we had traced this call to his location and police were on their way to arrest him that it would be best to not resist when police arrived or he would be shot (obviously not true) he promptly hung up and made a quick exit I am guessing but any way it felt great to turn the tables on these people who prey on people who might believe them and send their hard earned money to someone who is too lazy to work for it so they take it from us that do in closing i tried to call that number a few hours later and it had been disconnected so even though they weren't caught and will probably start trying to again scam people tomorrow I find comfort in the fact that he probably did not harass anyone else that day I hope that one day they will be caught and punished thouroghly
